Bryan Alvarez said Max Caster’s backstage history in AEW, not just his TNA comments, could hurt his WWE prospects.

Max Caster Likely Ruined His WWE Chances With Latest Controversy

Max Caster could face major hurdles in landing a WWE opportunity after the controversy surrounding his TNA debut at Bound For Glory on Sunday.

Bryan Alvarez said on Wrestling Observer Live that the main problem is not just what Caster said at Bound For Glory but his history of backstage behavior in AEW.

Alvarez said he has spoken to people who worked with Caster and heard accounts of him getting in trouble internally several times for ignoring the company’s instructions.

“The way it was described to me, Max Caster is a very hard-headed guy, and if you tell him no, he’s gonna do it anyway. And he got in trouble many times in AEW for this.”

Alvarez added that that kind of attitude could complicate a potential WWE signing, since the company would not want to work with someone who insists on going against the direction he is given.

The latest controversy began when Caster answered Moose’s open challenge and delivered his trademark rap before the match. At one point, Caster referenced the attacks on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

“I drop bombs. You don’t even have to fly to Riyadh.”

The line drew criticism because Saturday’s attacks left 13 people dead and more than 300 injured. Another attack on Sunday killed one more person. After the backlash, TNA removed videos of Caster’s debut from its social media accounts.

The history Alvarez described has well-known precedents. In August 2021, AEW had to pull an episode of Dark from YouTube after Caster commented on Simone Biles’ mental health and a years-old rape accusation against Duke University lacrosse players.

AEW also cut a Caster jab involving Vladimir Putin from a Rampage broadcast in February 2022, and in December 2024, the company edited out a reference to Luigi Mangione. Caster publicly criticized the second edit, accusing those responsible of disrespecting his work.

Despite those controversies, Caster had a prominent run in AEW. He and Anthony Bowens won the AEW World Tag Team Championship in September 2022 and later added the AEW World Trios Championship with Billy Gunn. His last televised match for the company came in December 2025, before his contract ended at the start of this month.
