NJPW has locked in the final four for the G1 Climax 36. Yota Tsuji, Ryohei Oiwa, Callum Newman, and Yuya Uemura have all punched their tickets to the semifinals.
B Block wrapped up on August 13 at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo. Newman clinched his spot by defeating HENARE in the main event, while Uemura advanced with a win over OSKAR. Both finished the round-robin with 12 points.
Gabe Kidd also reached 12 points after beating Ren Narita but was eliminated on tiebreakers. Kidd lost to both Newman and Uemura during block play, which knocked him out on head-to-head record.
Over in A Block, Tsuji and Oiwa advanced with 12 points as well. Konosuke Takeshita finished with the same total but was eliminated after losing to both wrestlers who went through.
The semifinal matchups for August 15 at Ryogoku Sumo Hall are set:
- Yota Tsuji vs. Yuya Uemura
- Ryohei Oiwa vs. Callum Newman
None of the four semifinalists are former G1 Climax winners, guaranteeing a first-time champion this year. The final takes place at the same venue on August 16.
