Tessa Blanchard could be closing in on a new home in the U.S., less than two months after parting ways with TNA.
During a recent appearance on Who’s The Champ?, Court Bauer confirmed that MLW has opened negotiations with the former TNA World Champion. The MLW founder stressed, however, that no deal has been finalized at this point.
Bauer had the following to say:
“She’s been someone that has been in the mix since she became a free agent and people have been wondering about her in MLW. I can confirm. We are in talks with Tessa. That’s about all I can confirm at this point, but you know, she’s incredibly talented.”
Blanchard landing in MLW would bring a nearly decade-long story full circle. According to Bauer, Tessa was originally planned to be part of the promotion’s relaunch in 2017, but scheduling conflicts kept it from happening. She has never competed for the company.
Blanchard left TNA in June. Following her departure, she explained that she had been given the choice between staying with the American promotion or continuing to work in CMLL.
She has stayed busy in Mexico since then. On July 31, Blanchard challenged Persephone for the CMLL Women’s World Championship but came up short. On August 8, she teamed with Thunder Rosa on the winning side against Keyra, Reyna Isis, and Zeuxis.
Her CMLL schedule will continue as planned despite the ongoing talks with MLW. Blanchard is booked to return to Arena México this Friday, August 14, teaming with Johnnie Robbie against Persephone and Reyna Isis.
