Psycho Clown suffered one of the biggest betrayals in AAA history at Triplemanía 34 Night Two, held Sunday, September 13, in Mexico City.
He faced El Carnicero in a Mexican Street Fight, looking for payback for months of attacks on his group. Carnicero controlled much of the match, which featured chairs, kendo sticks, and tables.
In the closing stretch, Carnicero put Psycho on a table and dove off the top rope. Shortly after, he hit another splash and pinned Psycho to win the match.
The worst for Psycho Clown came after the match. Carnicero kept attacking. Pagano showed up, but he didn’t help his former partner. Pagano turned on Psycho. His alliance with Carnicero was clear.
The betrayal caps a story that had been building for months. On May 30, Pagano and Psycho lost the AAA World Tag Team Championship to the War Raiders. After the match, Pagano walked out on Psycho while Erik and Ivar attacked him.
Weeks later, Psycho Clown suspected Pagano was behind the mysterious attacks on the group. On June 27, however, Pagano himself was found laid out backstage after also being attacked, which temporarily cleared him of suspicion.
El Carnicero came into the story in August. At Ola de Calor, he dominated Chris Carter, attacked Dave the Clown and Murder Clown, and was confronted by Psycho, who immediately challenged him to the Street Fight at Triplemanía.
