El Grande Americano is the new AAA Mega Champion. He defeated Dominik Mysterio in the main event of Triplemanía 34 Night 2 in Mexico City to win the title.
Before the match even started, Corey Graves announced it had been changed to a No Holds Barred Match, setting the stage for interference and chaos throughout.
JD McDonagh was the first to show up to help Dominik, but Los Americanos quickly ran him off. Omos, who was officially reinstated to AAA after defeating Rey Mysterio at Triplemanía 34 Night 1 on Friday, also came out to attack Americano.
Liv Morgan tried to save Dominik in the closing moments, but it wasn’t enough. With the referee down, Americano hit his finisher and Rey Mysterio came out to count the three, ending the match.
Dominik Mysterio’s year-long reign is over. He won the AAA Mega Championship by defeating El Hijo del Vikingo at Worlds Collide in 2025.
Americano had been waiting for this opportunity since March, when he defeated La Parka, Santos Escobar and the Original El Grande Americano in the Rey de Reyes final.
The finish also brings the story between them full circle. When Dominik won the title from Vikingo in 2025, it was El Grande Americano who pulled the referee out of the ring and helped Dirty Dom win. A year later, he’s the one who ended the reign he helped start.
