Chad Gable has picked his next challenger for the WWE Intercontinental Championship. On this week’s Monday Night RAW from the Scope Arena in Norfolk, Virginia, the reigning champion called out Rey Mysterio.
In a backstage segment, Gable approached Mysterio and praised the work the WWE Hall of Famer has been doing with AAA, including the tournament to determine Roman Reigns’ next challenger. Gable then told Rey he wanted to put the title on the line against him, calling Mysterio the greatest luchador of all time. Mysterio accepted, and Gable said he would talk to Adam Pearce to make the match official.
The goodwill between the two marks a sharp shift from recent history. On the June 8 RAW, Gable apologized to Rey and Dragon Lee for what happened with his former character, Original El Grande Americano. Later that same night, after Penta defeated Mysterio in an Intercontinental Championship match, Gable made the save during a post-match attack by Rusev and Ethan Page and returned Rey’s mask.

Gable captured the Intercontinental Championship at SummerSlam on August 2, defeating Penta in Minneapolis. He locked in the Ankle Lock and forced the submission to claim his first singles title in WWE.
As of now, WWE has not officially announced a date for Chad Gable vs. Rey Mysterio.
