Roman Reigns drew harsh criticism from WWE Hall of Famer Jake “The Snake” Roberts, whose comments to Inside The Ropes resurfaced on Friday, October 9.
During an audience Q&A, Roberts fielded a question about Reigns after a fan named the current WWE World Heavyweight Champion as their favorite wrestler. The answer, however, was far from positive.
Roberts said he does not like what Reigns has been doing in the ring for WWE and believes Reigns still has much more to offer, going so far as to call him fat and lazy.
“I think that maybe he got a little fat, got a little lazy.”
Roberts also suggested that the problem may not lie with Reigns alone but with WWE’s creative team as well. In Roberts’ view, too much interference from the writers limits the freedom wrestlers have, particularly when it comes to crafting their own promos.
He said he would have a hard time working in today’s WWE because he prefers to come up with his own promos rather than rely on scripts written by someone else.
