Roman Reigns is starting to see a timeline for the end of his WWE career, though he made clear that no final decision has been made.
During a live edition of Shannon Sharpe and Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson’s Nightcap at Fanatics Fest in New York City, the reigning World Heavyweight Champion said he believes he can still perform at the highest level for another two or three years.
Reigns said the following:
“I definitely feel comfortable with a couple…like three more years in WWE…of just elite level top performance for Roman Reigns.
I’m still in my prime. I still feel very good. I think it just gets to the point of where do I want to put my attention? I have a lot of children. I want to be able to give back that time to my wife that she sacrificed while I’ve chased this dream.
I think in three years or so, we’ll be able to figure out exactly what I want to do and what are going to be the variables that make me do that.
You know, do I want to… how’s my body feeling? Where am I at mentally? Where am I at spiritually? Where’s my family at? Where are my children at? What are they doing? What’s the schedule look like for them? So we’ll see. But I still feel good right now, y’all.”
The comments do not amount to a confirmed retirement in 2029. Reigns explained that at the end of that window, he will take stock of where he is physically, mentally and spiritually, along with his wife’s and children’s routines, before deciding whether to keep wrestling.
The new estimate stretches the timeline he laid out in April 2025. At the time, Reigns told Vanity Fair that once that contract was up, he had at most another year or two in the ring before pursuing a less physical form of entertainment.
For now, Reigns remains at the top of WWE. The champion will defend the World Heavyweight Championship against Seth Rollins at SummerSlam, which takes place August 1 and 2 in Minnesota.
