Sami Zayn holds the Undisputed WWE Championship heading into the fall, having captured the title twice in 2026. By any measure, it should rank among the best stretches of his career. His win-loss record tells a wildly different story.
Through 35 matches this year, Zayn has posted just nine victories against 25 losses and one draw. That works out to a 71.43% loss rate and a winning percentage of only 25.7%.
Those numbers rank as the fifth-worst single-year loss rate of Zayn’s entire career. He fared worse only in 2019, when he lost 93.4% of his matches, in 2018 at 91%, in 2022 at 82.1%, and in 2021 at 81.8%.
The downturn is especially stark compared to his recent output. Zayn finished 2025 with 24 wins and 14 losses, and in 2024 he went 46-17.
None of that has stopped 2026 from becoming the most significant year of Zayn’s career when it comes to world championship gold. He defeated Cody Rhodes and Gunther at Night of Champions on June 27 to win the Undisputed WWE Championship for the first time. That reign lasted only nine days before CM Punk beat him on the July 6 episode of Raw.
Zayn recaptured the title on the September 11 SmackDown in Mexico City, beating Punk in a chaotic match. This past Friday, September 18, he managed to retain against Kevin Owens after interference from CM Punk.
