Sheamus has dismissed the idea that his pro wrestling career is over. Even though he has left WWE, he said he is just on a long vacation.
In an interview with Telemundo Deportes on Saturday, Sheamus was talking about his future when the interviewer called him an “ex-luchador,” or former wrestler. Sheamus immediately corrected him.
“Did you say ex-luchador?” Sheamus said. “I’m just taking time off. I’m just chilling, I’m relaxing, I’m on vacation.” He added that it’s a long vacation.
This comes nearly a month after his WWE contract expired on October 1. He became a free agent after turning down a new deal. His last match was in November 2025, and he had shoulder surgery that December.
In its latest update on Sheamus and AEW, Fightful reported that Claudio Castagnoli, his former tag team partner in The Bar, and Adam Copeland are among those in AEW who want to bring him in.
Sean Ross Sapp reported that Sheamus has spoken to other promotions, but noted that a move to AEW didn’t seem imminent. Sapp was not sure if Sheamus has had any talks with Tony Khan’s promotion.
Back in July, Sheamus was a guest on Adam’s Apple, where he talked about using his time off to visit his family in Ireland and keep training. “I feel like I’m in the best shape of my life,” he said at the time.
