Tessa Blanchard Says She Joined MLW to Make Its Women’s Title the No. 1 in Wrestling

Tessa Blanchard wants to make the MLW Women’s World Championship the No. 1 women’s title in wrestling.

Blanchard, who was announced as MLW’s new signing, said the division already has the talent but was missing a name to build around.

Speaking on TMZ’s Inside the Ring, she said she kept an eye on MLW while working in Mexico.

“I think MLW’s women’s division is one of the best-kept secrets in wrestling. They always have great matches, great workers, and depth. I’ve been watching here from Mexico. I pay attention to all of our alliances like AEW, NJPW, STARDOM, and MLW.”

Blanchard sees her arrival as the next step for a division that already has a solid foundation.

“What’s been missing from MLW is a franchise, a name that the division is built around. This division was built, and now the franchise… well, I’m here. That’s exactly why I’m here. Every step of this division’s growth has been leading to this.”

She pointed to her experience when laying out what she plans to do with the title.

“My goal is to make the MLW Women’s World Title the #1 women’s title in wrestling. I’m more than capable of doing it. I’ve gone against some of the biggest names in pro wrestling. I joined this to define and build the division.”

Beyond the career goals, Blanchard said the move was also a personal one.

“Coming to MLW is a great business decision, but it’s also a decision for my happiness and to have fun.”

Blanchard will continue to work for CMLL through its partnership with MLW. Shotzi Blackheart is the current MLW Women’s World Champion.
