Tessa Blanchard is officially headed to MLW. The former TNA World Champion confirmed that she will begin working for the promotion soon, ending weeks of speculation.
During an appearance on TMZ’s Inside the Ring, Blanchard expressed her excitement about the next step in her career.
“I’m going to be starting with MLW here soon, and I’m super, super excited for everything to come.”
The signing had already been taking shape publicly. Court Bauer confirmed on December 8 that MLW was in talks with Blanchard, though no deal had been finalized at the time. More recently, MLW Fusion aired a teaser featuring a diamond and the message “coming soon.”
Along with Blanchard’s confirmation, MLW has added her to the roster on its official website. She is expected to debut at FIGHTLAND on December 9 at Festival Hall in Charleston, South Carolina.
Blanchard has also made her first goal clear. She plans to immediately enter the MLW Women’s World Championship picture, with the title currently held by Shotzi Blackheart.
Blanchard left TNA in June after requesting her release. She explained at the time that she had to choose between staying with the U.S. promotion and continuing her career with CMLL, ultimately choosing the Mexican promotion.
Joining MLW will not end her run in Mexico. Blanchard will remain based in Mexico City and continue working for CMLL as she begins her new run in the United States.
