Paige is back in NXT. Currently on the SmackDown roster, she was Kelani Jordan’s surprise opponent in the open challenge for the NXT Women’s Championship on Wednesday’s special episode.
General Manager Robert Stone forced the open challenge on Jordan shortly after her win over Wren Sinclair at Halloween Havoc on Saturday. It was Stone’s punishment for Jordan recently appearing on Raw and SmackDown without permission.
The match itself went back and forth, and both women got close near falls. Paige hit Jordan with a cannonball off the apron and nearly won with a double underhook suplex, while Jordan responded with a crossface.

Ultimately, Jordan’s split-legged moonsault was blocked by Paige’s knees, but Jordan reversed a Rampaige into a roll-up and got the pin to retain the title.
The match was the first-ever NXT Women’s Champion against the 28th champion in the title’s lineage. Paige defeated Emma in the finals of the tournament to crown the inaugural champion in 2013, and Wednesday’s match was her first in NXT since she left the brand for the main roster in 2014.
It was Jordan’s third successful title defense since she won the belt on August 30 at Heatwave, and her second in just four days.
