The Young Bucks may be nearing the end of their run in AEW, though not necessarily because they’re looking to sign with another promotion.
According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, there has been talk that the current deals for Matt Jackson and Nick Jackson could be the last contracts of their careers. Meltzer pointed specifically to Matt, who has reportedly considered stepping away from the ring.
“Aside from Page, I’m not sure how much longer any of them are gonna go, because Matt considered stopping. Matt’s in his 40s, and they’re set. All of them, they’re all set for life. They’ve made a lot of money.”
Meltzer also said he has heard firsthand that the Young Bucks may not sign a new deal when their current contracts expire.
“I’ve heard it discussed that this might be their last contract. You know, people always say that and then there’s so much money thrown at you afterwards to stay, so you always do. But, like I said, we’ll see what happens when the deal’s up.”
The current contracts were signed on February 8, 2023, when AEW announced long-term extensions for Matt Jackson, Nick Jackson, Kenny Omega, and “Hangman” Adam Page, all of whom were instrumental in founding the company.
Before any retirement talk becomes real, the Bucks still have a major date on the calendar. On August 30, they’ll face Adam Copeland and Christian Cage for the AEW World Tag Team Championship at All In at Wembley Stadium.
A win would give Matt and Nick their fourth reign with the titles, making them the outright record-holders for the most reigns in the championship’s history by surpassing FTR.
