TNA may be close to taking a major step toward developing new talent amid a busy week behind the scenes for the company.

According to PWInsider’s Mike Johnson, TNA and Ohio Valley Wrestling are working on a deal that would see the longtime Louisville promotion serve as something of a developmental system for the company.

The agreement is expected to be signed very soon. Carlos Silva, TNA’s current president, has reportedly been in attendance at recent OVW events, which has fueled speculation about closer ties between the two sides.

The potential partnership comes at a time of major internal restructuring in TNA. This week, the company confirmed the departures of Tommy Dreamer, Tessa Blanchard, and Sami Callihan.

With that, TNA appears to be looking for a more organized foundation to develop new names while also strengthening its roster in the coming years.

OVW, meanwhile, is in a symbolic period of its own. The company recently celebrated the 1,400th episode of its weekly show, which has been positioned as one of the longest-running weekly episodic programs in pro-wrestling history, behind only WWE RAW.

OVW became known worldwide as WWE’s developmental territory from 1999 to 2008. During that period, names such as John Cena, Brock Lesnar, Randy Orton, Batista, Shelton Benjamin, Victoria, Cody Rhodes, and CM Punk all passed through the promotion.

Al Snow purchased OVW in 2018 and helped bring the company back into the spotlight, especially after Netflix’s Wrestlers series.
