Add as a preferred source on Google Vince McMahon is reportedly willing to return to WWE even without a public announcement, an executive position, or a formal role in the company’s structure. However, there is no indication so far that any offer has been made.
The topic came up on the July 25 edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, when Garrett Gonzales read a question submitted by a listener. The question wasn’t about an ongoing negotiation, but a hypothetical scenario that even involved Tony Khan.
“His second question—not saying TK would bring him back—but just curious if Vince is the type of person who would be happy with a shadow role, or is he the type that needs credit and needs people to know he’s the one in charge?”
Dave Meltzer believes that, at this stage of his life, McMahon would accept working behind the scenes without public credit.
“He’ll be happy with the shadow role if they offered it, at this stage of the game.”
Meltzer added that Vince would likely see a low-profile return like that as a personal win. Still, Meltzer doesn’t believe TKO would let him regain any real power or take back control of the creative team. The scenario floated would amount to nothing more than a limited, ceremonial role.
The speculation gained traction just days after Janel Grant, McMahon and WWE agreed to move their case out of federal court and into private arbitration. The dismissal request was filed with prejudice, barring the same claim from being refiled in court, but preserving both sides’ rights and defenses in arbitration. The change still needs a judge’s approval and doesn’t amount to an exoneration of McMahon.
McMahon remains a TKO shareholder but hasn’t held any role with the company since his resignation on January 26, 2024.
