WWE has announced the opening match of the 2026 Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. The tournament gets underway on tonight’s NXT.
The opener will pit Los Americanos (Rayo Americano and Bravo Americano) against Noam Dar and Romeo Moreno.
Fourteen teams from NXT, Raw, SmackDown, EVOLVE and AAA make up this year’s Dusty Classic field. Reigning NXT Tag Team Champions Vanity Project (Brad Baylor and Ricky Smokes) received a first-round bye, as did AAA World Tag Team Champions El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. and Galeno.
Los Americanos already had a big opportunity in NXT this year, and the tournament gives them another shot at gold. Rayo and Bravo lost to Vanity Project in an NXT Tag Team Championship match at Stand & Deliver in April.
Dar and Moreno, meanwhile, have been teaming for several months. Fraxiom (Nathan Frazer and Axiom) beat them on a June episode of NXT.
The 2026 edition is the first men’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic since 2024, when Bron Breakker and Baron Corbin defeated Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams in the final.
