Brock Lesnar may not be finished with WWE after all, despite his emotional farewell at WrestleMania 42 when he left his gloves and boots in the middle of the ring after losing to Oba Femi.
In a recent interview with ITR Wrestling, Mark Henry said he expects to see the Beast Incarnate again, largely because of this year’s SummerSlam. The two-night event is set for August 1 and 2 at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
For Henry, the location would be ideal for Lesnar’s last match. Minnesota is central to his story, from his time at the University of Minnesota to how WWE has billed him throughout his career.
“I hope Brock comes back for this simple reason. SummerSlam is going to be in Minnesota, where he’s from, and it would be a classic place to retire at home. It would give fans the chance to show him the respect he deserves. I respect Brock and his legacy, and in my opinion he’s still got a lot left.”
Even so, the WWE Hall of Famer also pointed to a personal issue. He said Lesnar has voiced frustration about missing key moments with his children, from games to family events, and that would weigh heavily on any decision to keep wrestling.
“But he has said he misses his children. He feels like he’s not being a good father because he misses their hockey games. He’s missing the personal things. No father wants to miss his kid’s life. What if your child walked up and said, ‘you don’t love me like you love the other kids because you don’t come to my events’? How would you feel? So I want Brock to have those moments with his children. I just think there’s a happy medium. There’s a way for him to be with his family and still entertain us.”
Still, Henry believes a compromise exists. He thinks Lesnar could be more present at home while still making one final appearance to receive a proper goodbye from the fans.
Backstage, a last match at SummerSlam is still viewed as plausible. Gunther remains the most speculated opponent, especially given the recent storyline involving Paul Heyman and the Ring General.
WWE has not officially announced another Brock Lesnar bout. His retirement is still being sold as legitimate, but the door to one final chapter is not fully closed.
