WWE held Money in the Bank 2026 on Saturday night, October 10, in New Orleans, and the show delivered several great matches and some surprising results. Several creative decisions, however, fell well short.
Penta’s win was one of the bright spots of the night, but WWE wasted three significant opportunities to build its top storylines.
3 – Ending Stephanie Vaquer’s Reign Again
Liv Morgan won back the Women’s World Championship by beating Stephanie Vaquer and Becky Lynch in a Triple Threat Match. The issue is not necessarily Morgan’s win, though, but the way Vaquer was booked.
Vaquer won the title back on September 12 at a live event in Chile, and just 28 days later, she lost it again.
WWE could have let that reign run longer and given Vaquer chances to strengthen her standing as one of the top stars in the women’s division.
Morgan is already heavily featured as part of The Judgment Day and did not need to get the title back so soon. The result makes it look as though Vaquer is only being used as a transitional champion.
2 – Giving Tiffany Stratton the Briefcase Again
Tiffany Stratton won the Women’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match for the second time, adding to her 2024 win.
Stratton’s talent and popularity can justify the win, but WWE passed up a much more interesting opportunity with Roxanne Perez.
Perez also competed in the match in 2025, but Naomi won it. Now Perez, a former NXT Women’s Champion, has come up empty for the second straight year.
With Morgan back as Women’s World Champion, a Perez win would have created a fascinating situation within The Judgment Day.
The prospect of Perez threatening her own stablemate’s reign would have opened the door to betrayals and internal conflict without forcing the group to split right away.
Stratton has already shown she can get to the top. Perez needed this opportunity much more.
1 – Destroying The Vision’s Credibility Again
The Vision was one of the biggest losers at Money in the Bank, even though the group never wrestled as a unit on the show.
Bron Breakker was a strong contender to win the Men’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match, but he fell short against Penta, who hit him with a Mexican Destroyer on a ladder and then went on to win the match.
Bronson Reed, meanwhile, lost to Oba Femi despite help from Austin Theory, Logan Paul and Maxxine Dupri. Not even two shots with brass knuckles followed by a Tsunami were enough to put Femi away.
The problem is even bigger considering that Breakker and Theory lost to Penta and Je’Von Evans on the October 5 episode of RAW.
Even as World Tag Team Champions, the group led by Paul Heyman seems unable to win the matches that truly matter.
