There is a new development in the investigation into the death of AEW wrestler PAC now that an autopsy has been performed. PAC died on September 27. He was 40.
Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office in Illinois has ordered additional testing to determine the cause of death for PAC, whose real name was Benjamin Satterley. Preliminary results have not been released yet.
Meltzer added that toxicology results are still pending and could take anywhere from a few weeks to three months to come back.
He also spoke with someone who works closely with the office but does not have direct knowledge of Satterley’s case. In the newsletter, Meltzer relayed that person’s explanation of what usually happens when additional testing is ordered following an autopsy.
“According to someone who works closely with the office, but does not have knowledge of the Satterley case in specific, when they order additional studies following the autopsy it is usually not what they believe to be a natural death, such as a stroke, heart attack/damage, aneurysm, etc. Those would be apparent upon the initial autopsy and they will normally make their ruling upon this and go from there.”
That does not mean, however, that a natural death has been ruled out in PAC’s case. The explanation describes the office’s usual procedures and is not a conclusion about PAC’s death.
PAC was found unresponsive in a rental car in a restaurant parking lot in Des Plaines, near O’Hare International Airport in Chicago.
According to the police report, there were no apparent signs of violence or foul play.
The day before his death, PAC wrestled at AEW All Out, where he faced Andrade El Idolo in a match for the AEW National Championship.
