The cause of death of PAC, who also became known for his time in WWE as Neville, was determined to be bronchial asthma. According to the California Post, the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office in Illinois concluded that Benjamin Satterley died of natural causes, after an investigation.
The conclusion comes 19 days after his death, on Sept. 27, at age 40, and updates the information previously released about the medical tests.
On Saturday, Wrestling Noticias had reported that the office requested additional tests after the autopsy. At the time, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter cited a person who works directly with the office, but who did not have specific knowledge of the case.
That person explained that additional tests are usually not necessary when a natural cause can be identified immediately during the autopsy. The result now announced, however, classifies PAC’s death in exactly that way. The previous explanation dealt with the office’s usual procedures, not with a conclusion about Satterley.
The official Cook County database also makes a distinction between the medical cause and the classification of a death, recorded in separate fields. In PAC’s case, bronchial asthma was named as the cause, while the classification was natural death.
Asthma is a disease that causes inflammation and narrowing of the airways, making breathing difficult. The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute explains that attacks can happen quickly or develop gradually, and can be fatal in severe situations.
The information released about Satterley, however, does not provide specific details about the symptoms he may have had, possible triggering factors or his treatment history.
PAC had wrestled his last match at AEW All Out on Sept. 26, when he faced Andrade El Idolo for the AEW National Championship.
