AEW reportedly scrapped a big Jay White heel turn in 2025 that would have completely changed the finish of Dynasty’s main event, Jon Moxley vs. Swerve Strickland.
On the latest episode of Self Made Sessions, Self Made Pro said White was supposed to interfere in the AEW World Championship match, hit Strickland with a Blade Runner, and officially join the Death Riders. The Young Bucks weren’t originally supposed to get involved.
“The original finish wasn’t BTE Trigger, Death Rider,” Self Made Pro said. “One, two, three. It was supposed to be a Blade Runner. Like, Jay White was supposed to join the Death Riders.”
On the show, another person explained why things had to change:
“Yeah, but he got injured, you know.”
The injury forced AEW to go in a different direction, which eventually led to the Young Bucks feuding with Will Ospreay and Swerve Strickland.
“Because, yeah, because instead they set up the Bucks versus Ospreay and Swerve.”
At Dynasty on April 6, 2025, the Young Bucks returned and took out Strickland, which allowed Moxley to win and retain the AEW World title.
A day before the PPV, White confirmed that he was dealing with a broken hand. He was pulled from the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament after AEW wrote him off TV with an attack by the Death Riders themselves.
Now, more than a year later, White is feuding with Moxley again, but they’re on opposite sides. On Saturday’s Collision, White introduced a new faction, which has since been named The Cut, and said he wants to win the AEW Continental Championship.
