AEW has filed a lawsuit against TrillerTV and its parent company, Triller Group Inc., seeking nearly $5 million in overdue payments tied to pay-per-view sales and the now-defunct AEW Plus.
According to POST Wrestling, the lawsuit was filed on April 29 in Duval County, Florida. The amount cited by Tony Khan’s company’s attorneys is $4,988,989.13, with interest of 2% per month as outlined in the contract.
In the court documents, AEW accuses Triller of using revenue generated by its content to cover other operational expenses. The lawsuit cites breach of contract, unjust enrichment, and tortious interference, among other claims.
The lawsuit also revealed details of the deal between the two sides. AEW received 75% of net revenue from pay-per-view sales in the United States, 65% of international sales, and 60% from AEW Plus.
Making things worse for TrillerTV, Flipps Media — the company behind the platform — also sued Triller Group itself in Delaware, alleging insolvency and corporate abandonment. In filings submitted to the SEC, Triller also acknowledged debts and financial issues involving Flipps.
AEW had already been distancing itself from TrillerTV. In March, the company launched MyAEW in partnership with Kiswe, while AEW Plus was officially discontinued the following month.
As of now, Triller Group has not directly addressed the lawsuit, stating only that it is reviewing the matter.
