Brian Cage revealed that Steven Spielberg showed interest in attending an AEW event in the future.
The comment came during an interview on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, after Cage discussed his role in Disclosure Day, the new film directed by the filmmaker.
Cage and Lance Archer appear in the movie’s opening scene in a pro-wrestling match. Chavo Guerrero Jr. also worked on the project, appearing as the referee and coordinating the in-ring scenes.
“We got to talk with Spielberg a lot [on the set of Disclosure Day]. He was a huge wrestling fan and he was talking about how he’s surprised this is the first time he’s ever done anything wrestling related in any of his movies. And he’s talking about all the throwback stuff.
He was like, ‘Oh man, you guys ever in LA?’ I go, ‘We actually have a pay-per-view this weekend.’ And he goes, ‘Well, I’ll be out here still filming.’
But he’s like, ‘I would love to come to the show.’ And I go, ‘Pretty sure they’d love to have you come to the show.’ So maybe it’ll work out down the road.”
The pay-per-view Cage was referring to was most likely AEW Revolution 2025, which took place on March 9 at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. AEW presented the event in the city just days after the scene involving Cage and Archer was filmed.
Spielberg’s connection to pro-wrestling had also been brought up by Chavo Guerrero, who said he spoke with the director about past names from the Los Angeles territory, including André the Giant and John Tolos, one of the filmmaker’s favorites.
Disclosure Day hit theaters on June 12 and features Emily Blunt, Josh O’Connor, Colin Firth, Eve Hewson, and Colman Domingo.
