Add as a preferred source on Google Chelsea Green, who has secured her spot in the Ladder Match for the Interim WWE Women’s Championship at SummerSlam, opened up about how fan support has shaped her career in WWE.
During a recent appearance on Nerdspin’s Spotlight with Kat Siggers podcast, Green discussed the difference between winning a brand-new title and chasing one with an established history. She said she didn’t win her title just for herself, but for the fans who pushed for her rise.
“I think one really beautiful thing about that belt is I won it because the fans got so behind me that they forced WWE to make that decision. Truly.
I felt like I didn’t just win it for myself. I won it for all the people who were cheering for me. The moment that I went to hit my finisher in the ring, you can see it, feel it and hear it if you go back and watch those clips.
Because they pushed so hard for me and we collectively did it, that can never be erased from the history books. Until the day that I die, I will always be the first-ever Women’s United States Champion, and I love that.
When I think about the packages that you see on TV for the titles, they have to include me because I was the first.
It’s an exciting moment for me in my career because I knew there were going to be times when I might win championships, but you always think, ‘What are you going to be remembered for?’ That’s one thing I know I will be remembered for.”
Green defeated Michin in the tournament final on December 14 at Saturday Night’s Main Event in Long Island, New York.
The win marked her first singles title on the main roster. She later recaptured the championship on November 7, 2025, also becoming the first two-time champion in the title’s history.
The Women’s United States Championship has had six reigns split between four champions to date. Green remains tied to the title’s first two milestones — she was the inaugural champion, and the first to win it twice.
Now, Green is chasing her first world title in WWE. She defeated Kiana James on the July 24 episode of SmackDown to join Tiffany Stratton, Jade Cargill and Charlotte Flair in the Ladder Match at SummerSlam. The final spot will be decided between Giulia and Lash Legend.
