Chelsea Green has dealt with a physically difficult 2026, but she has never been fully removed from WWE’s weekly programming, and Green herself explained why.

In a recent interview with the Toronto Sun, the two-time WWE Women’s United States Champion said she feels lucky.

“I feel like every time they try to kick me off TV for an injury, or something legitimately happens, I sneak my little way back in there. I think the thing is—it is a variety show, and I found that niche. I found the mic skills they need or the comedic relief that they need.”

Green went even further, joking that she has found a way to “abuse the system,” since WWE keeps asking her to make appearances even when she is sidelined with an injury.

“So, at the end of the day, we do need that little bit of ridiculousness on TV every week, you know, to break up the kind of monotony of amazing wrestling. So I’m happy that I found that niche, and I’m able to kind of abuse the system in that way because they always ask me—even if I’m off with an injury—to come do something. So, I’m very, very blessed.”

Green’s comments have been backed up by the past several months. She broke her ankle in February on Friday Night SmackDown during an Elimination Chamber qualifying match against Tiffany Stratton and Lash Legend, but continued appearing on WWE programming every week, whether in a wheelchair or wearing a walking boot, often alongside Alba Fyre.

Green herself also pushed WWE’s creative team to keep her on television during her recovery.

The injury forced her out of WrestleMania 42, repeating what happened in 2025, when she missed the event despite holding the WWE Women’s United States Championship.

It is also worth noting that in May, after recovering from the ankle injury, Green underwent a three-hour heart procedure to treat supraventricular tachycardia (SVT), which had been diagnosed after 10 years. Even then, the “Hot Mess” did not disappear from television and is already back in action in WWE.
