CM Punk has become a topic of discussion backstage in WWE after some changes were made to his advertised appearances for the coming months.

According to Fightful Select, WWE sources who spoke with the outlet are treating the situation only as a “schedule change,” with no indication of any larger issue involving Punk. That same version was reinforced by Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

Punk was removed from some advertising for WWE’s European tour, which begins May 28 in Liverpool and runs through the June 22 episode of RAW at The O2 Arena in London. He has also stopped appearing in promotional material for some episodes of Monday Night RAW in June.

However, the “Second City Saint” is still advertised for key dates for the red brand, including the May 18 and May 25 episodes of RAW, June 15, June 22, as well as July shows in Chicago, Dallas, Detroit and Los Angeles. He is also listed for the August 3 episode of RAW in Des Moines.

The absence stands out because Punk has not appeared on WWE programming since the April 20 episode of RAW, when he addressed his loss to Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 42 and was confronted by Cody Rhodes in a segment that pointed to a possible rivalry over the Undisputed WWE Championship.

So far, WWE has not officially announced any time away for Punk. In other words, at least internally, the situation is still being treated only as a calendar adjustment.
