Add as a preferred source on Google Cody Rhodes used his appearance on the July 23 episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to issue a warning, jokingly, to celebrities who want to turn up in WWE.
The subject came up when Fallon raised the possibility of Tom Brady getting involved with the company. Rhodes said that names from outside pro wrestling tend to end up in his top feuds, and he pointed to Travis Scott and Pat McAfee as examples.
“Here’s my warning. A lot of the celebrities and people want to cross into wrestling and we do some sort of merging of worlds, I feel like they always get involved in my stuff. Travis Scott, Pat McAfee, they get right in on what I’m doing. If you come in, you can pick other people to mess with. You can. Also, you know, not everyone has to fully wrestle. You come to the show, prime example. I hook old Cookie Monster Punk, CM Punk. Chick Magnet, Chaos Magnet, Constantly Miserable, Cookie Monster. Right now, he is the Best In The World, he’s WWE Champion. But, I hook his arms like this, I turn to you, you just give him a nice open chop right on the chest. The place reacts, they clap, and that’s all. You get the Hall Of Fame run after that. Not everyone has to be a full-blown — they don’t have to do the full thing. Let me do that.”
Travis Scott was part of the segment that ended with John Cena attacking Rhodes at Elimination Chamber 2025. McAfee sided with Randy Orton on the Road to WrestleMania 42, attacked the American Nightmare and interfered in the Undisputed WWE Championship match.
Right after complaining about that pattern, though, Rhodes offered Fallon a role in his current storyline. The idea would be for Rhodes to hold CM Punk so the host could deliver a single chop to the champion’s chest, without having to work a full match.
Rhodes will face Punk for the Undisputed WWE Championship at SummerSlam, a two-night event set for Aug. 1 and Aug. 2 at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.
