Conflicting Reports on Bayley’s WWE Contract Status

Bayley is back on WWE programming, but questions about her contract status have resurfaced after Dave Meltzer and Mike Johnson offered sharply conflicting reports on Tuesday, September 8.

On the post-RAW edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Meltzer said Bayley had signed a new contract with WWE. F4WOnline carried the report, suggesting the agreement had been finalized before or around the time of her return to television.

“Yep, signed a new deal,” Meltzer said.

However, PWInsider’s Mike Johnson has since published an update disputing that report. Johnson said WWE sources told him Bayley had not signed a new contract and that there had not even been any recent talks about renewing her deal.

“There are reports that Bayley signed a new WWE deal with that report attributed to Dave Meltzer. That is incorrect.

Multiple WWE sources have indicated that there were no conversations about Bayley signing a new deal as she still has lots of time left on her contract.

Anyone claiming she signed a new deal as a condition of her return would be 100% wrong.”

The conflicting accounts also clash with earlier information about the length of her contract. During an April 2025 interview on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Bayley herself said she had a year and a half remaining on her deal, which would put its expiration around October 2026.

In July of this year, Fightful Select provided an update, reporting that her contract was expected to expire by the end of 2026 unless WWE added time due to injuries. At the time, company sources also said Bayley had yet to sign a new deal.

All of this speculation began after Bayley came off WWE television months ago. Before returning on Monday, she had last appeared on July 18, when Lyra Valkyria defeated her at Saturday Night’s Main Event.
