Ethan Page defeated Chad Gable to win the WWE Intercontinental Championship for the first time. The win ends Gable’s reign with the title, which he won in August.
The title changed hands on Monday’s Raw at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. Near the end, Page ran Gable into an exposed turnbuckle. He then hit the Egoplex for the pinfall.
Gable had several near falls. He hit an Angle Slam that sent Page over the announce table and then hit a moonsault in the ring, but he was only able to get a two-count.
Page responded with a Codebreaker and later a Twist of Fate. Neither move was enough to put Gable away. Toward the end, Gable hit a powerbomb and tried for another Ankle Lock, but Page was determined to win the title.
Adam Pearce announced the match on Sunday, after Page and Big Cass defeated Gable and Dragon Lee in a tag team match last week.
Gable beat Penta for the title at SummerSlam on August 2 in Minneapolis. His first reign as Intercontinental Champion ends at 92 days.
Page has held the NXT Championship and the NXT North American Championship. But this is his first title on the WWE main roster.
