Ethan Page defeated Chad Gable last night to win the Intercontinental Championship, his first title on the WWE main roster. He opened up about how he was feeling immediately after the big win.

The match was on Raw at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. The finish saw Page throw Gable into the exposed turnbuckle before he hit the Egoplex for the pin.

In an interview with WWE Now, Page was asked how it feels to be the new champion. He admitted that winning the title so fast has thrown off the way he sees his future.

“I feel weird,” Page said. “Mostly because this is the ultimate goal. Now that I’ve achieved it so early and so quickly, it’s like skewed, I guess, my view of the future.”

He added that he thought it would be a lot harder to win a title on the main roster. Because of that, he feels like he has to take another look at his goals.

“I don’t know why I thought it would be so hard to obtain this, and then it happened so fast that I feel like I should reassess my goals, which happens to me a lot in my life,” he said. “I think that’s why I feel nothing because I just know it’s like… I’m gonna do something great again, I’m sure.”

“I just did an interview with Jackie [Redmond],” Page continued. “I gave her my thoughts and I had said that it was extremely sad that I never got to witness myself actually win the Intercontinental Championship. And I think that actually is the precipice of everything is I don’t actually get to enjoy the journey. I’m the one dragging the cart behind me kind of thing.”

Back in May, before his title match against Penta at Saturday Night’s Main Event in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Page said the Intercontinental Championship was the first goal he had as a fan of pro wrestling. He lost the match.
