With the win, Abrams captures the title for the first time in his career and ends Hall’s reign, which began on March 23 when he defeated Cappuccino Jones at Wrestling Open RI 44 in Cranston, Rhode Island.
Abrams is part of The Mog Squad and had been positioned as one of the top names out of the Nightmare Factory, the school tied to Cody Rhodes and QT Marshall. He had also been advertised for the showcase alongside names such as Aaron Rourke, Cappuccino Jones, Laynie Luck, Timothy Thatcher, and Sloane Jacobs.
