Hiromu Takahashi continues to be viewed as an expected name behind the scenes in WWE, particularly within NXT.
According to Fightful Select, people connected to WWE and NXT have long believed that Takahashi will eventually end up with the company. So far, however, nothing has been officially announced by WWE.
That possibility gained more traction after Takahashi wrapped up his long run with NJPW. In February, New Japan Pro-Wrestling confirmed that his final appearance for the company would take place at The New Beginning in Osaka on February 11.
At the event, Takahashi said goodbye while teaming with Taiji Ishimori, defeating Francesco Akira and Jakob Austin Young. After the match, he was attacked by Akira before Robbie X appeared to make the save, in a moment treated as his final farewell to the Japanese promotion.

Takahashi was one of the key names in NJPW’s junior heavyweight division over the past decade, while also becoming the most successful wrestler in Best of the Super Juniors history.
The interest also comes at a time when WWE has already been using major names from the Japanese scene in NXT. The most recent case is Naraku, formerly known as EVIL, who arrived on the brand and quickly entered the NXT Championship picture against Tony D’Angelo.
It remains to be seen whether Takahashi will actually sign with WWE or still consider other paths outside Japan. For now, the former NJPW name continues to circulate as a strong possibility behind the scenes.
