Speaking recently on Rewind Recap Relive, the former Divas Champion said AJ’s return felt almost unthinkable to her, especially considering how long Lee had been away from the ring.
“I literally never thought I would see the day. I never thought it. I was like, ‘No way.’ Seeing AJ back felt like hell had frozen over.”
AJ Lee officially returned to WWE on the September 5, 2025 episode of Friday Night SmackDown, helping CM Punk against Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch after more than ten years away from the company.

AJ and Kaitlyn had one of the most memorable rivalries in WWE’s women’s division early last decade. AJ defeated her former best friend to win the Divas Championship for the first time, beginning a historic 295-day title reign.
The story between the two has picked up again recently because AJ said in an interview with Sports Illustrated that she would like to see Kaitlyn return to WWE.
