Sol Ruca, who has quickly become one of the top names in WWE’s new-look women’s division, revealed an interesting detail about her arrival in the company.
In a recent interview with KVAL News, Ruca recalled that she did not know much about pro wrestling when she received a message from the WWE Recruit page. At the time, she was living in Hawaii, working in social media and as an online personal trainer.
According to Ruca, her first reaction was confusion, as she thought the offer had something to do with UFC.
“So I didn’t really know much about wrestling when I got here. I was doing social media full-time, and I was an online personal trainer living in Hawaii when I got a DM from the WWE Recruit page, and they asked if I wanted to do a tryout,” she said.
“Honestly, at first I thought it was the UFC and was like ‘I don’t know how to fight, I’m not gonna do that’. Did my research and was like ‘Okay, this is sick, I think I could do this’, might as well go on a tryout, if I don’t make it, it’s a cool story to tell people, and if I do, hell yeah, let’s do it.”
Ruca has found quick success in WWE and recently reached the main roster. She competed at Saturday Night’s Main Event this Saturday and even defeated Becky Lynch by disqualification in a controversial match.
