Enzo Amore has officially signed a new contract with WWE, nearly nine years after he left the company.
PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported the news on Wednesday, and it has since been confirmed. Johnson wrote that it was believed backstage that the deal was done sometime over the last week, and one source told him that Amore was headed to NXT.
Fightful Select reported that Amore was at the Performance Center in Orlando during last night’s NXT. Fightful heard from people in AEW that Amore reached out to Tony Khan’s promotion as well.
The talks with WWE started during WrestleMania 42 week in April and gained momentum in May. That month, Amore was spotted at the Performance Center. At the time, indie promotions were told that he would no longer take his usual bookings.
In October, it was reported that Amore’s move to NXT was “pretty much a done deal” at one point. But Amore was going to be kept away from Big Cass, because WWE believed that teaming with him would limit Cass’s upside.
