Detroit’s own Rhino came out alongside Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope of the Insane Clown Posse to dump the buckets on the trio, with the crowd chanting “Rebel.”
ICP had been at the Temple a night earlier for Dynamite at Tony Khan’s invitation, their first national TV wrestling appearance since WCW Nitro in 2000.
O’Reilly and Strong were paying off a nomination from Adam Cole, who took the challenge last Sunday and called out his Undisputed Era running mates Strong, O’Reilly and Bobby Fish. Cassidy had been nominated in an earlier round. Britt Baker, Sting, The Young Bucks and Dustin Rhodes are among the others who have done it.
The campaign is pushing reauthorization of the ACT for ALS, the 2021 law that put $500 million over five years into ALS research and opened up access to investigational treatments. It expires Sept. 30. The House passed a five-year reauthorization earlier this month and it now sits with the Senate.
AEW also has Rebel Heart Dynamite set for Sept. 9 at Akins Ford Arena in Athens, Georgia, live on TBS and HBO Max. Rebel is scheduled to appear, with donations from the show going to I AM ALS and Team Gleason. Tickets go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. ET.
