On Monday, July 6, TMZ reported that Takecia Fatu, his wife, had filed for divorce after 12 years of marriage. In the court documents, she said the relationship was “irretrievably broken,” while also requesting primary physical custody of the couple’s minor son, exclusive use of their home in Georgia, support, and payment of attorney fees.
Amid the reaction, Jey posted a message on X:
“IM A GROWN ASS MAN.”
Fans quickly linked the line to the divorce filing, and the post received a wave of criticism.
A short time later, Jey deleted the message, which only added to the discussion among fans. As of now, he has not explained why he removed it and has not publicly commented on the divorce filing.
Jey has already been dealing with strong fan rejection recently due to his current run in WWE, where fans believe he has been winning matches in a forced manner.
Recently, he said in an interview published by WWE that he did not care as much about the audience anymore, before partially walking it back and admitting he still feels conflicted.
