John Cena does not miss the physical side of pro wrestling. What still gets to the “Cenation Leader” is the crowd.
During a recent appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Cena was asked whether he misses the physicality of wrestling. His answer was clear.
“No. What I miss is the audience. The energy that I feel when you come through the curtain. I had to walk away because I can’t get Bodyslammed anymore.”
Cena also said Tuesdays have become much easier since he stopped wrestling regularly on RAW, joking that the day used to be harder on his body after the Monday night show.
The comments come a little more than six months after his final WWE match. On December 13, 2025, at Saturday Night’s Main Event, Cena was defeated by Gunther in Washington, D.C., when he was forced to tap out to a Sleeper Hold.
After the match, Cena left his boots in the ring as the crowd chanted “Thank You Cena.”
Despite retiring from in-ring competition, Cena remains connected to WWE. In May, at Backlash, he appeared to announce the John Cena Classic, an annual tournament that will involve fans in choosing the winner.
