Add as a preferred source on Google Kevin Owens was spotted backstage at WWE‘s Backlash event last Saturday, held in Tampa, Florida.
According to PWInsider, Owens was at the event but did not appear on the broadcast and remains out of action due to neck surgery he underwent last year.
The Canadian’s presence is notable given the timing. Backlash featured Roman Reigns retaining the World Heavyweight Championship against Jacob Fatu in the main event, along with wins by Bron Breakker over Seth Rollins and IYO SKY over Asuka.
Even though he’s away from in-ring competition, Owens hasn’t been completely off WWE’s radar. During his recovery, he’s been working behind the scenes on WWE LFG and was recently used to help promote the company’s return to Canada in August.
According to earlier reporting from Bodyslam, Owens is expected to undergo a new medical evaluation over the summer, with WWE remaining hopeful that he can make his return at some point in 2026.
As of now, however, there is no set date for his in-ring return.
