Donovan Dijak, former WWE NXT wrestler and current MLW World Tag Team Champion, revealed details about an alleged backstage practice WWE uses to evaluate the behavior of its talent.
The topic gained attention after a fan pointed out on social media that Oba Femi had a record of 0 wins and 5 losses during his time on NXT Level Up, between late 2022 and early 2023.
The most curious detail, however, is that the four wrestlers who beat him in singles matches — Dante Chen, Von Wagner, Javier Bernal, and Xyon Quinn — are no longer with the Stamford-based company.
Dijak, who worked with Femi in NXT, responded to the post suggesting that WWE often uses strategic booking of matches to test the attitude and professionalism of its wrestlers behind the scenes.
“I don’t even know if this is true or not, but it wouldn’t surprise me. WWE will often quietly test wrestlers to see if they have an attitude problem, especially if they have big plans in store. Oba obviously passed with flying colors, I never heard anything even remotely negative and he was a pleasure to work with.”
A few days earlier, Dijak had already praised the Nigerian’s strength in a post on X, after Femi lifted Otis, who weighs over 300 pounds, on Monday Night RAW.
Femi’s record changed drastically after his time on Level Up. The Nigerian held the NXT North American Championship for 273 days, won the Breakout Tournament, the Iron Survivor Challenge, and became a two-time NXT Champion before being called up to the main roster.
At WrestleMania 42, Femi defeated Brock Lesnar in under five minutes. Currently, The Ruler holds weekly open challenges on Monday Night RAW.
