CM Punk turned heads on the latest Friday Night SmackDown when he came out wearing a special mask for his entrance, and the man behind the look has now been identified.
The mask was modeled after the iconic Jason Voorhees from the “Friday the 13th” franchise, featuring a custom design built specifically for Punk’s appearance on the show.
Following the broadcast, special effects artist Jason Baker was revealed as the creator of the mask. Baker is a well-known figure in the industry and a frequent WWE collaborator on makeup, prosthetics, and mask work.
Baker has been behind several standout looks for the company over the past few years, including work tied to The Fiend and Uncle Howdy, along with other high-profile projects involving top WWE names.
His ongoing partnership with WWE has produced some of the most memorable visuals of the company’s modern era, particularly during moments that called for a horror-driven, cinematic aesthetic.
Punk’s masked entrance quickly blew up on social media, largely due to the striking contrast between the familiar “Best in the World” persona and the horror-inspired look he debuted on the show.
WWE has not said whether the mask will become part of any new element of CM Punk’s character going forward or if it was simply a one-off for his SmackDown entrance.
