Brian Cage has addressed one of the topics that has followed his career for years. The AEW star publicly admitted he has used steroids and other performance-enhancing drugs.
Speaking on The Smooth Vega Podcast, Cage said he never tried to hide his PED use and pushed back on the idea that his impressive physique is purely the result of those substances.
“Do steroids work? Absolutely. Have I taken PEDs? Absolutely. I’ve never said I haven’t.”
Cage said PEDs do produce results, but they don’t automatically make someone more athletic, more skilled, or better in the ring. His physique, “The Machine” added, is also the product of years of training and dedication to bodybuilding.
The bigger point, though, came when Cage talked about where he is now. At 42, he said he is currently on TRT (testosterone replacement therapy) and denied using other substances on a regular basis, as some fans tend to speculate.
Cage also said PED use is far more common in pro wrestling than most people think. According to him, more people use some kind of substance both in and outside of the industry than don’t.
The comments come a few months after Cage returned to AEW following roughly 14 months on the shelf due to knee injuries. He came back in May, facing Kevin Knight for the TNT Championship, and remains a member of the Don Callis Family.
Cage also competes in bodybuilding. He won Mr. Nevada State in 2026, keeping up that pursuit alongside his pro wrestling career.
