Nyla Rose admitted she’s frustrated with her absence from AEW television, which dates back to November 2024.
Speaking with Denise Salcedo on Instinct Culture, Rose acknowledged that spots on the show are limited. Still, she said she wants to get back on TV and do more for the fans.
“It is. It is a little hard. It is a little frustrating.”
Rose made clear her frustration isn’t directed at the other women on the roster or the opportunities they have earned. She wants her own chance to work and entertain fans in different ways.
“You know, in this business, you do have to be a little bit selfish to a degree, right? You can be selfish while being selfless. And this, I think, is one of those moments. I want more for myself. I want to do more. I want to entertain you guys more in a multitude of ways. So it is a little frustrating when things like that happen.”
Rose also said she has been keeping a close eye on the women’s division, pointing to Mercedes Moné’s title win, the start of the feud between Moné and Thekla, and Willow Nightingale’s recent run.
“But there are amazing things happening. There are great things happening. So being able to kind of sit back and see these things, see, like, Mercedes actually rise to the top and win the AEW Women’s Championship, and now she’s starting to butt heads with Thekla. Like, things like this. Willow’s whole journey, like things like that.”
Willow defeated Thekla at Redemption on July 26 to capture the AEW Women’s World Championship. Her reign ended at All In: London on August 30, when Moné locked in the Statement Maker and choked her out.
On the September 2 Dynamite, Thekla crashed the new champion’s celebration and told Moné she wanted the title back. A week later, Willow got involved in the confrontation between the two.
Rose has been with AEW since 2019 and is the company’s second Women’s World Champion. Her last televised match came on the November 22, 2024 episode of Rampage, where she and Harley Cameron lost to Mariah May and Mina Shirakawa.
In May, Fightful Select reported that Rose was still under AEW contract. Three months later, she revealed she had been helping the company backstage while also working the independent circuit and wrestling in Japan.
Rose didn’t give a timeline for her return to television.
