Malakai Black’s First Post-WWE Match Booked

Malakai Black has his first post-WWE match booked. The former Aleister Black will face Donovan Dijak on September 4 in Edinburgh, Scotland, as part of PROGRESS Wrestling’s Odyssey Tour.

The bout will mark Black’s first match since his second WWE departure. He last competed on April 17, working the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal on Friday Night SmackDown. One week later, on April 24, he was let go as part of the company’s mass releases.

Black was required to sit out a 90-day non-compete clause and officially became a free agent on July 23.

The match is being billed as their first meeting in Europe, though the two have crossed paths before. Black defeated Christopher Dijak at an NXT live event in Orlando, Florida, on April 26, 2018.

Beyond Edinburgh, Black is also booked for PROGRESS shows in Leeds on September 5 and Manchester on September 6. The dates mark his return to the promotion after nearly a decade. Wrestling as Tommy End, he held the PROGRESS Tag Team Championship alongside Michael Dante and won Super Strong Style 16 in 2016.

For now, these bookings don’t signal a long-term deal. Black remains a free agent and, as previously reported, had preliminary talks with MLW, but negotiations stalled.
