Mercedes Moné is once again talking up the idea of facing Bayley, making it clear that a match against her best friend and current WWE star remains one of her biggest goals.
Speaking with the Daily Star while promoting AEW All In, Moné was asked about the possibility of getting back in the ring with Bayley and left the door open for a future bout.
“You never know in wrestling. That’s always a dream match for me. That is to have another match with her. She is one of my greatest opponents of all time.
Of course, everybody knows one of our greatest matches together, Brooklyn, that’s really changed the way people viewed women’s wrestling. But yeah, it’s always a dream match for me. So you never know.”
The match Moné referenced took place at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn on August 22, 2015, where Bayley defeated Sasha Banks, Moné’s former ring name in WWE, to capture the NXT Women’s Championship. Just weeks later, on October 7, 2015, the two met again in a 30-minute Iron Man Match that main-evented NXT TakeOver: Respect, with Bayley winning once more.
Moné had already teased the idea back in June, posting a graphic promoting a hypothetical match against Bayley at AEW WrestleDream that even used Bayley’s old ring name, Davina Rose.
