Moose had nothing but praise for Avery Styles during a recent appearance on Busted Open After Dark, dismissing the idea that TNA signed AJ Styles’ son simply because of his last name.
“He’s a bloodline to one of the greatest wrestlers ever so, I know he’s very talented,” Moose said. “I’ve seen some of his clips of stuff that he does on the indies and I mean, there’s definitely talent there; there’s a lot of talent there. Obviously, if there wasn’t, TNA wouldn’t have signed him, and I don’t think it’s one of those things that he strictly got signed because he’s A.J. Styles’ son. I think there is talent there, and I’m happy he’s part of our team and I’m happy he’s part of TNA and I hope myself and the rest of the guys on the roster could lead him on to the right direction and make him be the best version of himself.”
Avery officially signed with TNA on August 23 at Lockdown and has since been appearing alongside Frankie Kazarian. The pairing goes beyond the on-screen storyline. Kazarian has said he spoke with AJ Styles before the arrangement came together and promised to look after his son throughout his TNA run.
Avery has already been pulled into the ongoing rivalry between Kazarian and Moose. On the September 17 episode of iMPACT!, he accompanied Kazarian to a match in which Moose put his TNA career on the line. Moose won after connecting on multiple Spears.
Earlier, Avery had accepted a challenge from AJ Francis for what would have been his first TNA match, but Kazarian stepped in and called it off on his behalf.
AJ Styles recently said he views TNA as an important place for his son to gain television experience, particularly when it comes to learning TV timing and working around commercial breaks.
