Nikki Bella and Paige took their ongoing WWE rivalry to an even more personal level on social media, just hours before the September 11 Friday Night SmackDown at Arena CDMX in Mexico City.
On her Instagram, Nikki posted a GIF of The New Day and took a shot that fans immediately tied to the private video leak involving Paige and Xavier Woods on March 17, 2017. At the time, Paige said her photos and videos had been stolen and posted without her consent.
In her caption, Nikki wrote:
“All week I had to try hard to get over the things @saraya said to me last Friday on SmackDown. And you know what… this morning I thought to myself IT’S A NEW DAY YES IT IS and that made me feel a lot better!”
Paige fired back on X shortly after:
“When you go low @NikkiAndBrie I’ll go lower I promise you. Fuck you.”
The exchange came after Paige went directly at Nikki’s personal life on the September 4 SmackDown, using John Cena’s famous “Hustle, Loyalty and Respect” catchphrase to reference her past relationship with him.
The day before the match, Nikki said on The Nikki & Brie Show that she has no issue using personal material in storylines when it gets a reaction from the crowd:
“I’m all for what entertains a crowd, what helps make a crowd react,” she said. “And I’ve always loved bringing something personal into it.”
In the ring, Nikki got the last word. She defeated Paige by pinfall on the September 11 SmackDown.
