Nyla Rose has been off AEW television for nearly two years, but she doesn’t believe Tony Khan is the reason.
Rose, a former Women’s World Champion, hasn’t wrestled on TV since November 2024. Her last appearance came on the Nov. 22 episode of Rampage, where she teamed with Harley Cameron in a loss to Mariah May and Mina Shirakawa.
During a recent appearance on Krazy Train with Jasmin St. Claire, Rose was asked whether Khan might be behind her lengthy absence. She dismissed the idea, though she indicated there are some things she can’t discuss publicly.
“No. I genuinely don’t think it’s him,” she said. “I genuinely, genuinely don’t think it’s him. You know how they say trust your gut. And this isn’t me just, like, glazing him because he’s my boss or anything like that. It’s just, there may be some things I can’t talk about or, like, things I can only speculate on, but, like, in my heart of hearts, just the relationship that we have and, like, the conversations that we have, I don’t think it’s him, you know?”
Rose also said Khan is usually pretty direct when he turns down creative pitches. She pointed to one idea she has been pushing for about four years, a storyline in which she gets hit by a car.
“He’s genuine, right? Like, he’s not really one to, like, tell you what you want to hear. […] I’ve been begging to get hit by a car for like four years. Yeah. He won’t let me get hit by a car.”
Though she has been off television, Rose remains under contract with AEW and has been working behind the scenes for the company.
Rose admitted earlier this month that she was frustrated with the situation, adding that she is still waiting for another opportunity on AEW programming.
