Oba Femi Says He Won’t Be a Paul Heyman Guy

Oba Femi rebuffed an overture from Paul Heyman on Monday’s Raw, making it clear that he has no intention of becoming the next Paul Heyman Guy. He said he does not need anyone to build his future in WWE.

Heyman interrupted Femi’s promo celebrating his Money in the Bank win over Bronson Reed. He said he had always seen Femi as the future of WWE, going so far as to call him the top star of the next generation.

Heyman pointed out that Femi became the first wrestler to survive Reed’s Tsunami at Money in the Bank. He also said Femi’s performance there topped his outings against Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 42 and SummerSlam. In Heyman’s view, Femi is the man destined to lead WWE in the coming years.

Femi, however, cut in and demanded that Heyman get to the point. He then pulled the microphone away from Heyman and responded.

“I am NOT like Roman Reigns or Brock Lesnar, those are Paul Heyman guys, I AM A OBA FEMI GUY.”

With that, Femi left the ring, ending the conversation and leaving no room for a partnership with Heyman. The rejection comes as Femi closes in on a shot at the World Heavyweight Championship. After beating Reed at Money in the Bank, Femi called out Roman Reigns on the post-show and demanded that Reigns stop avoiding him.
